Description Chai is another word for Tea. Chai is used predominantly in South Asia and man other parts of the world. For many people in the western world chai mean Masala Chai. Some coffee shops refer to it as Chai Tea Latte. There are many ways to make chai. The chai recipe below is common in many households. Try the chai tea recipe below to get the authentic chai taste. For Plain Chai Tea Latte Recipe:
*  1 1/2 cups of Water
*  1 1/2 cups of Full Fat milk
*  2 tsp sugar (or as per your requirements)
*  1/4 cup loose black tea (or 3 tea bags)

For Spice Tea / Masala Chai Tea Latte Recipe:
*  As above plus
*  2 whole cloves
*  1/2 stick cinnamon
*  2 cardamom pod (crushed or cracke open)

Methods/steps
  • Add 1.5 cups of water to a pot
  • Add 1/4 cup loose black tea (or 4 tea bags)
  • Optional - If making masala then add the cloves, cinnamon and cardamon pods
  • Bring it to boil
  • Let it steep
  • Add 1.5 cups of Milk
  • Add sugar as required
  • Bring to boil
  • Stir and keep it hot
  • Then strain and serve it hot
Additional Tips
Most masala chai incorporates one or more of the following spices: cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, peppercorn, and cloves. In India, fresh ginger is usually used. In Western India, mint leaves are considered a major ingredient of any chai recipe.
